ISIS – Los Angeles – 2005

Track: “The Other”

Produced, Directed, and Edited by Kenneth Thomas.
Camera Operation by RJ Paganini, Kenneth Thomas, and Ren Yoneyama.
Shot at The Troubadour, 5 November 2005.

Here it is – a Cutting Room Floor clip from the very first shoot that started the filmic journey which resulted in “Blood, Sweat + Vinyl: DIY in the 21st Century.” This video is essentially the first 5 minutes of the 5-year-long filming marathon!

At this point in time, I had a general concept as to what I wanted the film’s story to cover – Hydra Head, Neurot, and Constellation, and the bands therein. But, this was the test shoot – if this footage came out as well as I’d hoped, then I’d have something excellent to show ISIS and whatever band I chose to film next. Luckily, with Ren and RJ (the other camera folk) on my side, we kicked ass that night, and the rest is history.

This particular setlist was unique for the band – they played several songs that I never saw live again – “Glisten” being one of them, the footage of which is on ISIS’ live DVD, Clearing the Eye. The song featured here, “The Other,” is another live rarity, and I’m thrilled to show the footage here for the first time.
